-- CRISPY CRUNCHY ONION RINGS --
Recipe adapted from 'Orville Redenbacher's Popcorn Cookbook'

Ingredients:
1 extra-large sweet onion (Vandalia Onions taste the best)
2 ½ cups of Aunt Em's Tender White Popcorn (finely crushed)
¾ cup of all-purpose flour
½ teaspoon of baking powder
¼ teaspoon of garlic powder
¼ teaspoon of paprika
1-cup buttermilk
Salt to taste
Vegetable oil for frying

Directions:
* Pour 1 ½" of vegetable oil into a 4-quart saucepan and heat to 350° F (if the oil starts smoking, you need to turn down the heat).
* Cut onion into thick slices and separate into rings.
* Mix together remaining ingredients except buttermilk in a medium-mixing bowl.
* Pour buttermilk into a wide rim flat bottom bowl.
* Dip onions, one at a time, into the flour mixture, then into the buttermilk, and finally back into the flour mixture.
* Fry onions a few at a time until golden brown (if you put to many into the pan at one time, they will stick together and not cook evenly).
* Serve warm either straight up or with the condiment of your desire.
