Aunt Ems Gourmet Popcorn - Home

-- INDIANA COUNTRY FRIED CHICKEN --
Recipe adapted from 'Orville Redenbacher's Popcorn Cookbook'

Ingredients:
Vegetable oil for frying the chicken
3 lbs chicken pieces cleaned, washed, dried, and ready for frying
8 cups of Aunt Em's Tender White Popcorn finely crushed
½ cup of all-purpose flour
½ teaspoon of seasoned salt
½ teaspoon of pepper
2 eggs lightly beaten with 1 Tablespoon of water in a flat bottomed bowl

Directions:
* Fill a large heavy skillet ½ way full with vegetable oil and heat to 325° F.
* Combine Aunt Em's tender With Popcorn, flour, pepper, and seasoned salt in a plastic bag. Close bag and dance a little jig around the kitchen until the ingredient in the bag are well mixed.
* Dip a few pieces of chicken in egg wash and place them in the bag with the popcorn coating.
* Close the bag and do your little dance around the kitchen again until the pieces are well coated. Repeat this step until all the pieces of chicken are well coated or your legs give out (which ever occurs last).
* Fry chicken in the heavy skillet for 20 to 30 minutes or until cooked through. Start with the skin side up and turn halfway through.
* Drain on a paper towel and serve while still warm.
